In 2014, Salinas City Elementary School District made a commitment to establish systems that promote a positive school climate. To achieve this goal, they are using several strategies, including: Restorative Justice, the Olweus Anti-Bullying Program, Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports, and Playworks. Schools are making progress toward the goal of having all students experience a culture where they feel welcomed, safe, and happy, which has transformed school culture and improved the lives of students and their families. In 2018-19, Roosevelt Elementary was one of 120 schools statewide to receive the Platinum PBIS Implementation Award – the highest level of recognition.
